114TH BOSTON MARATHON MEDIA
The Boston Athletic Association and principal sponsor John Hancock Financial invite you to cover the 114th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 19, 2010. TELEVISION In the Boston ADI, WBZ-TV is the local rights-holder for the broadcast of the 114th Boston Marathon and has certain online rights. Universal Sports is the exclusive domestic television home of the Boston Marathon, providing live coverage of the race. UniversalSports.com is the B.A.A.'s online partner for the Boston Marathon and will stream the race live worldwide, as provide a comprehensive multimedia destination for the 114th Boston Marathon. Certain restrictions apply for internet and television outlets within and outside of the Boston ADI. A copy of the B.A.A.'s Internet and News Access Guidelines will be provided upon submission of the media credential form and acceptance of conditions is required prior to distribution of media credentials and access into B.A.A.-controlled area at and surrounding the event. 2010 BOSTON MARATHON MEDIA CREDENTIALS
The B.A.A. is now accepting requests for media credentials for the 2010 Boston Marathon, Credential requests will be accepted until Monday, March 15, 2010. Due to the demand for credentials, media members must be working for a legitimate and established news outlet with an assignment to cover the marathon in order to receive a media credential. A limited number of credentials are available and assignments are made on a priority and space-available basis. For more information, please contact Chris Conley at the B.A.A. WE REGRET THAT WE CANNOT ALLOW SINGLE-PERSON PICK-UP FOR MEDIA OUTLETS. THAT IS, WE CANNOT ALLOW ONE PERSON TO PICK UP THE MEDIA CREDENTIALS FOR THE ENTIRE MEDIA OUTLET. MEDIA ACCESS AND CREDENTIALS
MEDIA ACCESS: Media credentials provide access to press rooms and press areas. There are seven credentialed press areas: general access, photo start area, men's press truck, men’s TV truck, women’s press truck, women’s TV truck, and photo bridge. Media personnel receiving credentials for the press trucks, photo start area or photo bridge also will be allowed admittance to the press room and press conferences. A PRESS CREDENTIAL IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR ADMITTANCE TO THE PRESS ROOM AND THE POST-RACE PRESS CONFERENCE. For security purposes, a social security number or foreign passport number will be required for access to the photo bridge. PRESS ROOMS: For credentialed media, the B.A.A. and John Hancock will provide complete press room facilities at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, located near the finish line at Copley Square.

Saturday, April 17, 2010 Champions’ media availability 9:00 a.m. Oak Bar, Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel Champions of the Boston Marathon (Ron Hill, Jacqueline Gareau, Geoff Smith, Lisa Rainsberger [Larsen], Gelindo Bordin), will be available for interviews prior to the Champions' Breakfast. Ernst Van Dyk, going for his ninth and all-time record-breaking title, is expected to be present. Sunday, April 18, 2010 B.A.A. 5K 8:00 a.m. Boylston Street - At Boston Public Library 5,000 entrants will run a 3.1-mile course through downtown, starting and finishing on Boylston Street. B.A.A. Invitational Miles 9:30 a.m. (following the conclusion of the B.A.A. 5K) Boylston Street – At Boston Public Library • Scholastic Mile (Girls, Boys): The top high school runners from the eight cities and towns through which the Marathon runs will compete on Boylston Street. The sixteen girls and sixteen boys will race around a multi-loop course, finishing on the Boston Marathon finish line. Middle school races will be a new addition to this year’s schedule. • Professional Mile (Women, Men): Top national and world-class milers will race to culminate the morning’s event. Monday, April 19, 2010 (Race Day) 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Media Room Oval and Venetian Rooms - Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel Copiers, telephone lines, internet access are available, and the live feed of the race is projected on several screens.
