1. What is the date of the 2009 B.A.A. Half Marathon?
The 2009 B.A.A. Half Marathon will be held on October 11.
2. For the Half Marathon, when and where can I pick up my bib number and T-shirt?
By October 2, you should have received your Number Pick-up card in the mail. This card is imprinted with your race number and information you provided to the B.A.A. during the entry process. Please verify the accuracy of the information printed on this card. If any changes need to be made, call the B.A.A. Registration Office at 508-435-6905 or send an email detailing the necessary correction to registration@baa.org by October 7. THE NUMBER PICK-UP CARD IS REQUIRED TO CLAIM YOUR BIB NUMBER AND T-SHIRT. Saturday, October 10 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Sunday, October 11 (RACE DAY) 6:30 - 7:45 AM Please be prepared to show proper identification. If you have lost your Number Pick-up Card, a duplicate will be issued upon presentation of photo identification. To have a friend pick up your bib number and race packet, you must first sign the card. The friend must write his/her name and address on the card and present photo identification at Number Pick-up. A computer timing D-Tag will be enclosed with your bib number. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and provide instructions on attaching the D-Tag. You will receive your B.A.A. Half Marathon T-shirt at Number Pick-up.
2. What do I do if I cannot participate once I have registered?
Unfortunately numbers are non-transferable and entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. You may NOT give your number to someone else.
4. What do I do if I don’t receive or if I lose my Number Pick-up Card?
Bring a photo I.D. and / or proof of payment (cancelled check or credit card statement) to the registration area, and we will issue a new card. An origional Number Pick-up Card must be presented in order to receive your number.
5. Can a friend pick up my Half Marathon bib number for me?
To have a friend pick up your bib number and race packet, you must first sign your number pick-up card. The friend must write his/ her name and address on the card and present photo identification at Number Pick-up. They must present the original card. Notes and copies will not be accepted. Number and T-shirt pick-up will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 11, between 6:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., at Roberto Clemente's Field in the Back Bay Fens neighborhood of Boston (also known as the Fenway).
6. What time should I be at Clemente Field and what time does the race start?
The race begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Please allow yourself plenty of time to get to the Field, park, pick up your number, use the port-a-johns and get to the start.
7. How long will the course be open and at what time will timing stop?
Timing will conclude at 10:30 am. The course will close at various intervals prior to 10:30 am, and participants are then asked to move to the side of the road or continue on the sidewalks where available.
8. Can I wear my iPod / headphones during the BAA Half Marathon?
Whereas the BAA discourages the use of iPods and headphones, we do not impose a ban on wearing such devises in the BAA Half Marathon except for the elite men and women and all those eligible for prize money.
9. How do I know if a marathon is run on a certified course?
The race director or race management can tell you if a course is certified. For a complete list of certified courses in the U.S.A. check USA Track & Field. In Canada check Athletics Canada. Internationally, an extensive calendar of races is listed at the Association of International Marathon and Road Races website, with indication of courses that are not certified.
I used my qualifying time from a fall marathon in 2008 to enter the 2009 Boston Marathon. Can I use the same time again for the 2010 Boston or do I need another qualifier?
Qualifying for the 2010 Boston Marathon began September 27, 2008, so if you ran a fall marathon on that date or later your time can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon in both 2009 and 2010, even if you run in 2009.
I will be 44 when I run my qualifying race, but will be 45 when I run Boston. What is my qualifying time?
Your qualifying time is based on your age on the day of the Boston Marathon, thus your qualifying time will be 3hrs 30 min – and you can be 44 when you run your qualifying race.
What is the date of the 2010 Boston Marathon?
The 2010 Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, April 19.
What is the first day I can qualify for the 2010 Boston Marathon?
The qualifying window for the 2010 Boston Marathon is scheduled for September 27, 2008 to approximately December, 2009, or when we reach our entrant maximum. Registration for the 2009 Boston Marathon closed in late January.
