For the 15th consecutive year, HP will play a key role in the Boston Marathon. HP technology
supports race activities from beginning to end, from initial registration and number
pick-up to the finish line and results page on the Marathon website. HP technology
will also be front and center in the media center, in medical tents and at information
kiosks.
Along the racecourse, volunteers equipped with HP wireless hand-held IPAQs will be able to provide fans
and race officials with real-time updates. As a key element of the Marathon’s Athlete Tracking Network,
HP technology will enable friends and family members to track their runner’s progress throughout the race
by logging into the HP-powered Boston Marathon website. In 2008, the system provided more than a million
real-time updates during the race. In addition, HP supports the B.A.A.’s year-round efforts with equipment
at its two offices in Hopkinton and Boston.
HP, the world’s largest IT company, simplifies the technology experience for consumers and businesses
with a portfolio that spans printing, personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure. More
