In 1998, Community Rowing launched G-ROW BOSTON, the first rowing program in the country designed specifically for urban girls. Today G-ROW serves 200 girls, ages 12-18, enrolled in the Boston public schools. G-ROW teams - and the program's core philosophy - are centered on inclusion, relationship-building, academic success and support. The program has three tracks: Intensive, Recreational, and Summer Camps. The intensive program meets five times per week throughout the entire school year. Fall and spring are spent training on the Charles River and competing throughout New England. Winter is spent indoors - building fitness, focusing on homework and college preparation, and learning to swim. Our recreational track, meets two times per week for eight weeks each spring. Finally, summer camps are offered free to girls ages 12-18 who live in Boston.
