The Esplanade Association is a dynamic nonprofit organization working to restore and enhance Boston’s historic Charles River Esplanade.  One of the oldest and most popular urban parks in the country, the Esplanade hosts tens of thousands of runners each year, along with millions of other visitors who come to enjoy the 3-mile long riverside park.  The Esplanade was always meant to be the crowning achievement of the Boston Metropolitan Park System, but despite the park’s tremendous popularity—or perhaps because of it—it is in generally poor condition today due to decades of insufficient funding and maintenance.  Through the construction of capital projects, ongoing advocacy work, volunteer coordination, and the development of public park programs, The Esplanade Association is committed to improving the iconic Charles River parkland and the experience of all its visitors.

The Esplanade Association is only accepting qualified entrants. A qualified entrant is a runner who has already secured their Boston Marathon entry by registering with the B.A.A.
