Boston Partners in Education enhances the academic achievement and nurtures the personal growth of Boston’s public school students by providing them with focused, individualized, in-school volunteer support. For over 40 years, Boston Partners has strived to involve community members in lives of Boston’s public school children, and we have a proven track record of success with these students. As a result of working with Boston Partners’ academic mentors, students have displayed increased enthusiasm toward learning and improved academics, attendance, and behavior. Boston Partners’ volunteers help students develop life skills necessary for success both in and out of school.
They also introduce students to information about new and different opportunities available to them to achieve their future goals. During the 2008-2009 academic year, Boston Partners reached 5,899 students in grades K-12 by placing 914 volunteers to tutor and mentor them in reading, writing and math in 69 schools throughout Boston. These totals represent increases of 40% more students, 4% more volunteers, and 13% more schools than the previous school year.
