Wave One Start - 10:00 a.m.
Wave Two Start - 10:30 a.m.
The field size will be limited to 25,000 athletes.
Entry fee is not refundable.
Entries are not transferable.
The B.A.A. accepts net times from electronic scoring systems.
Athletes must be 18 years or older on April 19, 2010.
The B.A.A. reserves the right to reject any entry, issue special invitations, cancel the race, expand or further limit the field, or adjust the entry procedures.
The Boston Marathon includes a field of elite, invited athletes. Regardless of qualifying performance, selection and entry into the elite field is subject to review, and acceptances will be made on a limited basis. Entry into the field of elite, invited athletes will be at the sole discretion of the B.A.A.
Entry into the Boston Marathon will be at the discretion of the B.A.A.
WAVE START
The 2010 Boston Marathon will utilize a two-wave start with
Wave One starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by Wave Two at 10:30 a.m. Corral and wave assignments will be based on qualifying times. Entrants will be notified of their assignments in early April. In 2009, runners with a qualifying time faster than 3:34:36 began in Wave One.
PARTICIPANTS’ AGREEMENT
The B.A.A. Boston Marathon is a serious athletic endeavor. Official timing and scoring is done by net time and ceases at 4:45 p.m., at which time the course is opened to vehicular traffic. By signing and submitting this entry form, you are agreeing to comply with the following terms and conditions, and you certify the information you are providing is complete and correct:
- you understand that the cities and towns control access to the roadway, and that traffic control and other race support along the course ceases at various times, starting shortly after 10:30 a.m. in Hopkinton and ending at 4:45 p.m. in Boston;
- you acknowledge that the B.A.A. does not assume responsibility for your health, safety, security or support;
- you are able to complete the entire 26.2 mile B.A.A. Boston Marathon course within six hours (net time);
- you will not begin racing prior to your assigned start time;
- you will not compete in a manner which, in the judgement of the race officials, interferes with race operations, other participants, or the integrity of the competition;
- you will not reproduce or alter your official bib number;
- you will not transfer your official bib number or timing device–or your right to obtain it–to anyone or any organization for any purpose, including charity auction, lottery or other fund-raising effort;
- you will adhere to the rules of the IAAF, USATF, and the B.A.A.
CONFIRMATION
Upon verification of submitted qualifying times, entrants will be notified by first class mail of their acceptance or rejection.
A listing of accepted entrants will be available at www.baa.org beginning in mid-October.
In early April, accepted applicants will receive, via first class mail, an official Number Pick-up Card and extensive information regarding the B.A.A. Boston Marathon and related race week activities. If you do not receive your Number Pickup Card (required to claim number) and brochure by April 9, please contact our office at registration@baa.org.
Note that bib numbers will not be distributed on Race Day. Your travel arrangements should take into account picking up your number at the Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston prior to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 18.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
JOHN HANCOCK SPORTS AND FITNESS EXPO
The John Hancock Sports and Fitness Expo will be open on Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston.
BOSTON MARATHON CHARITY PROGRAM
The Boston Athletic Association, committed to encouraging and promoting fitness through athletics, has developed a program to assist charitable organizations by providing guaranteed entries for fundraising. The B.A.A. encourages all runners to aid in these efforts. A full list of official 114th Boston Marathon charities is available on our charity page.
TEAM COMPETITION
Online team registration will be available solely on the B.A.A. website beginning March 2 and continuing through March 31.
OFFICIAL MERCHANDISE
A full line of official Boston Marathon merchandise and apparel is available through B.A.A. licensees. A few apparel items may be available prior to March, and the majority of products will become available for purchase in March. For additional information go to our shop.
